UMW Riding Head Coach Beth Boteler


The newest member of the University of Mary Washington coaching team is Beth Boteler, who has taken over as the new riding team coach at UMW.
Boteler, from Louisa, VA, is a bachelor of science graduate of Virginia Tech, and is nearing a master of science from VA Tech in Agriculture and Extension/Career and Technical Education. Prior to serving as coach at UMW, Boteler, has served as assistant riding team coach and facility manager at Virginia Tech, from August 2003 to July 2004. She also has teaching experience as an instructor/manager/owner of Round Hill Farm in Waynesboro, VA. Her experiences are extensive and diverse, including serving as a teaching assistant at the VA Tech Dairy Center and serving and a manager for the Hokie women's basketball team.
Boteler has been involved with the Virginia Tech Block and Bridle Club, the Virginia Tech Equestrian Club, The Va Tech Equestrian team, and, prior to coming to UMW, was a member of the Virginia Association of 4-H extension agents and the Virginia Extension Services Association.
Boteler is an outstanding rider in her own right, as she qualified for the 2000 IHSA national championship, placing fourth in advanced walk-trot-canter. She has been teaching hunter seat equitation for nine years.
