WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA - University of Mary Washington sophomore Jessica Van Brocklin finished in fourth place in Individual Open Equitation Over Fences at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's National Championships in West Springfield, MA, today. Van Brocklin, the high point rider in the region this year, will compete for the coveted Cacchione Cup through Friday, and junior Erin Richardson will compete on Saturday. IHSA WEBSITE 04/01/07 UMW Riding Team Competes at Zone Show; Sends Two to IHSA Nationals SWEET BRIAR, VA - Four members of the UMW riding team competed in the individual Zone Championship competition on Sunday in Sweet Briar, VA. Erin Richardson and Bradley Bounds rode in intermediate equitation on the flat, Lauren Campbell in open equitation over fences, and Jess Van Brocklin in open equitation on the flat and over fences. Erin Richardson won her class in intermediate on the flat and will be advancing to the National Championship Horse Show. Jessica Van Brocklin came in second in open equiation over fences and will also be advancing to Nationals. Van Brocklin was the high point open rider in the region this year and consequently she will be competing for the Cacchione Cup in addition to competing in open equitation over fences at the national IHSA championship in May. 02/23/07 UMW Riding Show Postponed FREDERICKSBURG, VA - The University of Mary Washington riding team's annual show at Hazelwild Farm, scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed. The show may be potentially rescheduled later this Spring. 02/11/07 UMW Riding Team Competes at Goucher College Show TOWSON, MD - The University of Mary Washington riding team competed at the Goucher College show in Towson on Sunday, with several top results. First place riders for the Eagles included Stephanie Kulakowski (Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter), Hannah Woll (Novice Flat), Samantha Rizzi (Intermediate Fences), and Jessica VanBrocklin (Open Fences and Open Flat). Claudia Black (Novice Fences) and Erin Richardson (Intermediate Fences) both finished with second place finishes. UMW will compete at the Christopher Newport University show in Williamsburg next Sunday at noon. 10/28/06 UMW Riding Team Takes 2nd at Goucher Show TOWSON, MD - The University of Mary Washington equestrian team was Reserve High Point team at the Goucher College show this weekend, finishing only one point behind the host school. Lauren Campbell, Kane Ramsey, and Jessica Van Brocklin each won their section of Open Equitation on the flat. Other first place finishers on the flat included Bradley Bounds in Intermediate and Katelyn Rice in Advanced WTC. Sarah Leavitt was first in Novice Equitation over fences. Second place finishers included Tiffany Batterton in Novice Equitation on the flat and Stephanie Kulakowski in Advanced WTC. Kane Ramsey finished 3rd in open equitation on the flat and second in intermediate equitation over fences. Lauren Campell was third in open equitation on the flat and first in open equitation over fences. Samantha Rizzi was second in intermediate equitation on the flat, and Erin Richardson was 1st in intermediate equitation on the flat. Tiffany Batterton took second in novice equitation over fences. The Eagles will be back in action on October 28 at the Goucher College show. 09/24/06 UMW Riding Team Takes 1st, 2nd at Weekend Maryland Shows UPPER MARLBORO, MD - The University of Mary Washington riding team opened the 2006-07 season successfully, finishing second on Saturday and first on Sunday in their season opening shows. On Saturday, Lauren Campbell finished first in open flat, and Jessica Van Brocklin and Erin Richardson each won their classes in open fences. Stephanie Kulakowski won her class in advanced walk-trot-canter. On Sunday, Freshman Sarah Leavitt was the reserve high-point rider of the show, finishing first in both novice flat and novice fences. Kane Ramsey was first in open flat, Van Brocklin and Campbell were first in open over fences, and Richardson was first in intermediate flat. Stephanie Rzepka was first in her novice over fences class. The Eagles will return to action on October 7, when they will compete in the Mount St. Mary's Show in Towson, MD.
