ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION VACANCY

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIM COACH

The Department of Athletics, Health and Physical Education at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) is seeking a Men's & Women's Swim Coach/Aquatics Director/PE Instructor. This is a full-time, Renewable Term Appointment Faculty Position, beginning August 16, 2007. UMW is a liberal arts and sciences university with about 3,780 undergraduate students, located 50 miles south of Washington, DC, has 23 Intercollegiate Teams for Men & Women and is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Capital Athletic Conference.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Responsibilities include coordinating all aquatic activities; teaching courses in swimming, lifeguard training, and/or water-safety instruction; and all duties associated with coaching NCAA Division III Intercollegiate swim teams for men and women. These duties include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting plan that will attract and maintain student/athletes capable of succeeding in a highly competitive academic setting, budget management, scheduling and the training, staffing and coordinating of lifeguards during the academic year and summer-school sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required - Master's degree in Physical Education or closely related discipline, Lifeguard Trainer certification, college level swimming participation, successful coaching and recruiting experience in swimming and ability to teach Physical Education classes. Preferred - Certifications in AED Instructor, First Aid Instructor, CPR Professional Rescuer Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Trainer.
