Women's Soccer Head Coach Kurt Glaeser

|
The University of Mary Washington's prominent place among NCAA Division III women's soccer programs is due primarily to the tutelage of head coach Kurt Glaeser. Since taking over the program in 1989, Glaeser has led the Eagles to twelve NCAA Championship Tournament appearances, including in seven of the past nine seasons. His cumulative record of 229-75-31 ranks in the top ten all-time among Division III coaches, both by victories and by winning percentage. His teams' thirteen conference titles in fifteen years is unparalleled, and his teams have also set numerous state and conference records for victories, winning percentage, shutouts, scoring, defense, etc.
Glaeser's teams have brought him many coaching accolades, including the NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1998, and as Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year in 2001. He has also been named the Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year eight times, and as Virginia State College Division Coach of the Year in 1991, 1992, 1997, and 1998. The Eagles have been nationally ranked in each of Glaeser's seventeen seasons, and have been ranked in the postseason top twenty-five eleven times, including in 2004, when the Eagles finished ranked eighth in the final NSCAA national poll.
With twenty-six years of coaching experience, Glaeser also owns an advanced national diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He is very active in soccer organizations, having held positions on the NCAA Mid Atlantic and South Region Advisory Committees, and as chair for the CAC women's soccer committee. Glaeser lives with his wife, Linda, and children Matt and Suzannah, in Fredericksburg.
